Kindred Block (kindredblock.com) is a directory of Black-owned businesses and Black-led organizations. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your first name, email address and password (stored encrypted). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- Business listings. If you add or claim a business, we collect the details you submit, such as the business name, address, phone, website, hours, photos and description.
- Reviews and messages. Reviews you post are public and show your display name. Messages sent through a listing’s contact form go to Kindred Block and, when the listing has an email address, to that business.
- Technical information. Like most websites, our servers and security services log IP addresses, browser type and pages visited to keep the site secure and working. We use your approximate location (from your IP address, or your device location if you choose “Current Location”) only to show nearby businesses.
How we use it
We use your information to run your account, publish listings and reviews, review new listings and ownership claims, answer messages, keep the site secure and improve the directory. We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing
We share information only with services that help us run the site (web hosting, Cloudflare for security and speed, Google for sign-in and maps, and our email provider), when you ask us to (for example, a message to a business), or when the law requires it.
Cookies
We use cookies that keep you signed in, remember your location choice and protect the site from spam. We do not use advertising cookies.
Your choices
You can update your details on your account page at any time. To delete your account or ask what information we hold about you, email [email protected]. If you signed in with Google, you can also remove Kindred Block’s access from your Google Account settings.
Children
Kindred Block is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
