Museum of Black history and culture in north St. Louis since 1997

Description

Founded in 1997 by Lois D. Conley, the Griot was the first cultural institution in St. Louis devoted to Black history and culture. Exhibits use life size figures, artifacts and art to tell regional and national stories, including Josephine Baker and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A museum shop sells handmade goods from Senegal.
