Description
Underground Books has anchored the 40 Acres Cultural Center in Sacramento's Oak Park neighborhood since 2003, founded and long tended by Georgia "Mother Rose" West and run as part of the nonprofit St. HOPE. The store carries Black literature, children's books, calendars, cards and local goods, and hosts author talks, poetry nights, story time and the Oak Park Black Film Festival. Recent events have featured national authors alongside Sacramento writers.
