Lloyd Adams and Betty Campbell-Adams started baking carrot cakes in East Harlem and opened their first storefront in Riverdale in 1985. The family still runs the bakery, now with shops in the Bronx and East Harlem, and its carrot cake has been featured on Food Network's The Best Thing I Ever Ate.
