Museum of Black American military history in Tacoma's Hilltop neighborhood

Description

A Hilltop museum preserving the history of the 9th and 10th Cavalry and other Black soldiers in the U.S. Army, from slavery through WWII. It was founded in memory of Buffalo Soldier William Jones and opened in Tacoma in 2012 under his daughter Jackie Jones-Hook. The nonprofit also runs school programs, a Labor Day festival, and a golf tournament. Visits are by appointment.
