Liberty Bank and Trust was chartered in New Orleans in 1972 and has grown through acquisitions into Mississippi, Kansas, Michigan, Illinois, Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee, describing itself as the largest Black-owned financial institution in the country. In New Orleans it runs drive-up branches on Canal Street in Mid-City, Gentilly Boulevard, Crowder Boulevard in New Orleans East and General De Gaulle Drive in Algiers, plus a walk-in branch near Tulane. Services include personal and business banking, mortgages and small business loans.
