City First Bank combined Washington's City First with Los Angeles' Broadway Federal Bank, founded in 1946 to serve Black Angelenos, in a 2021 merger reported as creating the largest Black-owned bank in the country. The headquarters and branch are on U Street NW, with branches in LA's Exposition Park and Inglewood. The bank focuses on lending for affordable housing, nonprofits and small businesses, along with deposit accounts.
